The old university city of Granada has had an eventful past. In 1492 the 700-year rule of the Arabs in Spain ended here. The Arabian quarter Albaycín is also worth paying a visit to with a colorful nightlife and student population. The Alhambra and the Albavcín are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.

The 280,000-inhabitant city has an excellent geographical location. In the north, Sierra Nevada, which at 3482m is the highest mountain range in the Iberian Peninsula and the southern-most ski resort in Europe. Less than 30 kilometres South you find the Mediterranean Sea and the beaches of the Costa del Sol.
